Reflection
Experiences
I still remembered when the first time I enter the advanced typography class was already Week 3 due to credit transfer and the enrolment issues. I was really anxious and knowing that there was already plenty of assignments waiting for me. All of my classmates had submitted their first exercise on Week 2, the following week need to submit their second exercise. I was really pressured and lost at the same time because I only had a week of time to finish 2 exercises and was trying so hard to adapt the new environment. But surprisingly, the class turned out to be much exciting that I thought, and managed to finish my 2 exercises. Although most of the time during the semester, I feel confused and frustrated after going through rejections day by day. However, I managed to complete all assignments and the results are something that I expected. Thanks to Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsu l for always pushing me and improving my work. Lastly, this module has taught me so much and widen my critical thinking at same point somehow this class was really enjoyable and fun even though everyone was so lifeless and sleep deprived.
Observations
All of my classmates are really hardworking. This module also kinda forced us to be more self disciplined and not to be spoon-fed. For example, we have to initiate to lecturer for our ideas feedback, keep our blog on track every week and do more further reading because lecturers were checking it all time. However, it makes us to be more caution about our time management and actually read more articles about our studies. In this module, I also noticed that we actually integrate the things that we learned during the first exercise to our project 1 and 2 subconsciously. It got me realise that small details and things can make a really big different.
Findings
This module has taught me so much like a good design is not meant to be only looking gorgeous but also needed to be meaningful and doing their job to showing their purpose. Here are some clear steps that I learned throughout the semester when starting to design something. First, we need to consider the target audience for our design. Then, what is the purpose of your des ign and what underlying message you want to incorporate to your design and convey to the target audience. It made us become clearer to our idea and concept and allows us to be more critical towards our design. I would like to thank Mr. Vino d and Mr. Shamsul for the guidance, I will definitely miss this class as we won't be having it anymore and never forget the root of design such as typography.
