Instructions

Project 1 - The Troublemakers Manifesto (Key Artwork)

In this project, we were expected to create a key artwork of an upcoming conference called The Troublemakers Manifesto: A Design Colloquium. The key artwork will later be used across the collaterals. The collaterals range from:
  • Poster (Statistic)
  • Invite (Interactive)
  • T-shirt, Sticker, Pin Badge, etc
We were also provided the meaning behind The Troublemakers Manifesto: A Design Colloquium for us to refer to when brainstorming for the concept:

Troublemakers often make others feel uncomfortable. They challenge the norm, they question establishments rules and the status quo. This tension is needed to break the monotony brought about by societal conformity to the diktats of those wielding influence.

To most people, troublemakers are not a welcome lot but without their disruptive tendencies - creating ripples and ruffling feathers - unspoken ideas will not be made known, and innovations will not come to pass.

Why do they do, what they do? What principles and values lie beneath their decisions and actions?

Title & Key Artwork | Week 6 - 8

This week, we were expected to have our key artwork ready to show for feedback. The key artwork should be relevant and preferably a metaphor of the conference's title itself. Below are the attempts I've made.

Feedback: Mr. Vinod suggested to explore more about the topic cause I seem like getting a bit lost.

30/09/2019 (Week 6)

I have come out with some new ideas, but I felt like its missing the concept in it. Here are the artwork I done.

07/10/2019 (Week 7)
After the finding, I finally come out with something new. Heres the artwork.

Feedback: Mr. Vinod said that the image looks quite interesting, he suggested me to do some minor changes.
Facebook Feedback: Mr. Vinod advised me to choose my images / faces carefully.

After getting the feedback from Mr. Vinod, I changed the previous sketch face to other image. Then, I added a brain to the character to represent the character is having so much of thoughts and a lot of ideas going through his brain.

Facebook Feedback: Mr. Vinod doesn't get the concept from seeing the artworks with brain. He said remove it should be fine and "a design colloquium" is a bit hard to see.

Final outcome.

The following is the final outcome of key artwork's pdf :

General Feedback: There are few methods that we can come out with ideas such as mind map, conversations and synonyms. Side note: not to use light bulb.

Individual Feedback: Mr. Vinod & Mr. Shamsul said that I was at the right path but my key artwork doesnt say much about the topic. They advised me to get more explore and experience more.

Week 7
October 7th, 2019

Individual Feedback: Mr. Vinod & Mr. Shamsul don't see the ideas that i was trying to implement to my artwork. They suggested me to think about the concept at the first place, and I should be prepared while explain my ideas to lecturers, cause that was the crucial part.

Week 8
October 14th, 2019

Mr. Vinod & Mr. Shamsul approved my keywork and they also said one of my poster design looks familiar with the sample poster. Mr. Vinod said it could work but he advised me to do something on it, Make it looks different.

Facebook feedback: Mr. Vinod advised me to choose my images / faces carefully. After I changed it and showed it again. Here was the second replies from him. Mr. Vinod doesn't get the concept from seeing the artworks with brain. He said remove it should be fine.

Reflection

Experiences

Week 6
September 30th, 2019

I had difficulties while choosing an idea. Firstly, I started with few rough sketches, but i could get the visual so I started it by digitalise it. Thinking a new idea was the hardest part for me.

Week 7
October 7th, 2019

I was so lost since all my ideas got rejected because Im really not good at explaining my ideas. That also one of the thing that i should be improved.

Week 8
October 14th, 2019

I finally understood what was the meaning of the topic after few conversations with some classmates, they gave me so many useful advise. After that, I searching more inspirations from Pinterest so I can get the visual references. It was quite exhausting while looking up for inspiration, but I'm quite satisfied with the final outcome.
