Lectures

Week 1 - 28.08.2020

Mr Razif briefed us about our module and what needs to be expected throughout the semester. He also showed us some of our seniors' work as references. He recorded a few tutorials for us to practice and familiarise with Adobe Audition. He also suggests us to invest in the headphone that is suitable for sound production.

Week 2 - 4.09.2020

Mr. Razif showed us the recording studio during the online session, he explained all the tools that are being used in the studio. No much of lecture for this week but Mr. Razif has prepared exercise for us to do after the class.

Exercises

Week 1 - 28.08.2020
Parametric Equalizer

We were tasked to do the EQ exercises by adjusting the parametric equalizer. Most of my classmates had done this exercise before because of their previous module which I've exempted the module from credit transferring. This exercise is to match with the provided 4 audio to the original audio, then screenshot our works for progress checking.

Here are the screenshots :

Week 2 - 4.09.2020
Script recording

We were tasked to choose 1 sample script provided, then record the commercial lines by using what we have. It could be our phone and make sure it could catch up with our voices without any noise.

Below is my recorded script :

*Update on script recording*

Mr. Razif suggests me to record a new one without using any headset because in the future we need our device to record something for our project and some of the sounds might not be recorded on a certain frequency.

Week 3 - 11.09.2020
Explosion VFX

We were tasked to do the exercise based on the recorded tutorial within 40 mins.

Below is my final explosion VFX :

Week 4 - 18.09.2020

Feedback

Week 1:
The module was briefed thoroughly by our lecturer. For exercise 1, most of my classmates had done this exercise before because of their previous module which I've exempted the module from credit transferring. It was definitely a whole new experience for me to learn Adobe Audition, I also spent some times on familiarising with the interface because it was my first time using it. The class was quite enjoyable and I'm looking forward to the next lesson!

Week 2:
The class was quick but very informative. Love all the tutorials that are pre-uploaded by our lecture, Mr Razif. We are able to do our exercise with a clear outline even without attending the online session but still, I attended the class just in case if I missed out something.

Week 3:
The tutorial session is very useful for me even I'm just a beginner for audition. It was easy to catch up during the session & I've never thought of one simple audio file could be changed to a large extent by adjusting layering & pitch snifting. I also feel like there are still so many things that I need to learn and improve in the future.

Week 4:
The class was very interesting, it requires us to imagine the scenario & create an environment sound based on the given images. Searching for the suitable sound effect was hard but when seeing the result was really satisfying & I'm digging more to come.
