UV Mapping

This week, we were taught about texturing & UV mapping.

  • When creating texture for UV mapping, it has to be square with 1024 x 1024 pixels.
  • First adjust the UV Map then export the UV map. Use photoshop to create whatever texture you want. TADDAA Magic !

Week 7 - 29.05.2020
Texturing

This week, Mr. Kanan gave a short lecture of texturing in substance painter.

  • Base colour always comes first. Then rougly colour on the model. After identify the character personal to decide its mood.
  • Don't put too much of colours on one model. Set 3 Primary colours, and choose one secondary colour.

Week 4- 08.05.2020
Inspiration

This week, we were tasked to find inspiration for our man- made object. I wanted to create a cartoon style kind of burger selling truck and here is my inspiration.

My progression was a little slow because I was trying to pick up the software and the interface.

Progression check

After getting feedback, I continue to model my model. Still need to eat the burger and beverage on the top of the truck.

Texturing and Rendering

Mr. Kanan suggested me to exaggerate some part of it and make it more cartoon-style . I also added some details on it so it can looks less empty. I tried to render the car by using Arnold and it took forever. The quality was not good because of my noob laptop.

I have some spare time so I decided to work on some detail to make it nicer. Mr. Kanan advised me to choose the background colour wisely, the model would be more stand out if using plain colour.

Reflection

It was fun to play with the colours and texture. A little change can actually make the model so much better especially adjusting the material attributes. I also learned to differentiate the correct material to match ur model which takes up a little bit of imagination. UV mapping gives me a little hard time but luckily the problematic part wasn't shown so I don't bother to fix it as well. I only used Maya software for my model because I still haven't get my tablet. Will definitely give it a try on substance painter once I get it ! The result is quite satisfied for me and is also one of my favourite modules even though the challenge is real tho !
