Lectures

Week 1- 07.01.2020
Lecture 1 : Introduction to the module

This week we were briefed about the overall of the module and what outcomes are expected. This module is basically all about informations. Information is always the key and aesthetics comes as second place. As a design student, it all go back to design principles to help the visual and of course information is what matters the most.

What is FLIP classroom?
Flip is a type of blended learning where students are introduced to content and returning the knowledge to other classmates of what you learnt through the topic with presentation slides.

Week 1- 08.01.2020
Flip class 1: Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto

In today class, our group presented a presentation about Manuel Lima's 9 Directives Manifesto. Below is our group's presentation slide.

Week 2- 14.01.2020

For the next presentation, the topic is on Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H., and this is to be done in groups as well.

Feedback: Mr Kannan gave a general feedback that when it comes to presentations, we should have eye contact with the audience, include pictures as examples and have a good organisation and planning between the team members.

Week 2- 15.01.2020
Flip class 2 : Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H

In today class, our group presented a presentation about Saul Wurman's L.A.T.C.H. Below is our group's presentation slide.

Exercise
Exercise 1 : Quantity & Visualise Data (10%)

For this exercise, we were told to pick between Lego bricks or buttons to categorise/ quantify the data based on its shapes, colours, numbers and etc. Below are the progress I made during the class.

Fig 1.0 : Drawing out and describing the characteristics.

Fig 1.1 : Categorise them based on their pattern.

After that, I realised that there are too many types of different buttons and huge amount of numbers so I've decided to separate it to 3 categories: matt, dull and shiny surfaces.

Fig 1.2 : Start to categorise them based on its characteristics.

I redesigned the chart to be more easier to understand by using different of colours. However, the result was quite organised and it looks neat.

Fig 1.3 : The final outcome of data visualisation.

Exercise 2 : L.A.T.C.H (10%)

We were tasked to create a poster which combined and utilizes the L.A.T.C.H aspects with 4 different power of Pokemons.  I've decided to choose for the first generation of Pokemon.

Mood-board to guide me to what kind of art-style for my infographics.

Then, I collected all the informations that I need and I break it into few different parts as below.

L - Pallet Town, Pokemon first generation.
A - Organising the type of Pokemons according to alphabetical method.
T - The evolution of the Pokemons.
C - Type of Pokemons
H - The Pokemons inside the building only can be caught in Pallet Town. The one that leave outside the building was given by game based on the game.

The colour pallet that I gonna use for my graphic style.
